The Geosite Mobile Data Collection and Inventory Tool is a geoconservation management solution designed to streamline the collection, storage, and management of geosite data. Using a mobile application, practitioners can capture geospatial information, site descriptions, and photographs directly in the field, with data automatically synchronised to a centralised web-based platform. This enables efficient inventory development, improves data consistency, and supports informed decision-making in geoconservation.

Key Features
Mobile-based field data collection using smartphones or tablets
Capture of location, attributes, descriptions, and photographs
Offline data collection and automatic synchronisation to a central web application
Standardised data structure for geosite inventories based on leading assessment frameworks
Supports ongoing monitoring and updates of geosite information
Example Use Case
A digital approach was used to update the geoconservation inventory for Wellington Park (2017–2019), with data collected across 49 geosites. This improved fieldwork efficiency, increased the accuracy of geosite boundaries, and enabled data to be easily shared across multiple stakeholders. The Geosite Mobile Data Collection and Inventory Tool was customised to record site locations, descriptions, and photos directly from smartphones, with automatic synchronisation to an online web application.
Data collected through the mobile app was supplemented with drone imagery captured in the field, which was used to generate high-resolution orthophotos and 3D models of geosites, including the emblematic Organ Pipes (URL). All of this information was integrated into an interactive online inventory (link), making it easier for park managers to maintain and update geosite records, with the option to make the platform public-facing to support education and outreach.
